Pixham People

Calling all Pixham photographers!

There is now an online photo-sharing site that has been created just for the people of Pixham. Called ‘Pixham People’ it is available via Flickr – an internet based photo and video sharing website that is used by people all over the world.

Flickr is available free of charge for anyone who has an interest in taking and sharing photographs, and is a great way to share your images, not only with family and friends but photographers everywhere. If you choose to join Flickr you will be able to set up your own personal photographic collection, join groups that share your photographic interests, whether these are animal, vegetable or mineral – and all points in between, and comment on photos taken by fellow members, who in turn will add their observations to images you choose to share.

To find out more, in the first instance visit www.flickr.com – and take a look at the images on the home page; where you can also follow the invitation to take the tour. This tour will show you the main features of Flickr and take you through the easy signing up process. Once you have an account of your own you will be able to post your own digital images, and join groups to share your images with others. Membership of the Pixham People Flickr site is by invitation only – and to receive an invitation you will need to have joined Flickr and posted some photographs of your own first. Then you will need to use the ‘search for a group’ facility on your ‘groups’ page to find the Pixham People site. This will take you to the Pixham People home page where you need to click on the ‘join this group’ link which will allow you to send a message to the group administrator asking for an invitation – and as long as you either live or work in Pixham, and agree to the group rules (basically that all images posted to the site must be appropriate for viewing by people of all ages as it is a family-friendly group) then you should be granted permission to join up. Once a member of the Pixham People group you will be able to join in the discussions and challenges and share your photographs and video clips with other Pixham people.

If this all sounds complicated, worry not, more instructions will be placed on the Pixham Post website – and if you get really stuck the website will also have further details of how to get help.

Good luck – and see you on Flickr! www.flickr.com

Thanks,
Sara Davison
