Watermill Jazz

Watermill Jazz was founded in 1994 by Ann Odell, and Steve Spurling and since then has gone from strength to strength meeting on Thursday evenings every month of the year except December. Admission is from 8.00 pm and the music starts at 8.30 pm

The club meets in the Social Club of Friends Provident Group, Pixham Lane, Dorking, RH14 1QA. Seating is comfortable and there is a licensed bar separate from the music room. Disabled access with stair lift and toilet facilities on site at the Social Club. A new Yamaha C3 Grand Piano was purchased in 2005 as part of a policy of continually improving our equipment and service to club members and to visiting musicians. Our aim is to provide the best of live jazz in congenial surroundings. A lively policy is pursued, with performances of the finest in Jazz from top UK and overseas bands coupled with giving an opportunity to the best of the younger bands on the scene today. The music ranges from mainstream to post bop and contemporary music and bands vary in size from trios to big bands.

Our members give a lot of input in the choice of artists and we aim to give everyone appearing at the club a good environment in which to perform Artists appreciate our well-informed audiences who have a reputation for listening attentively and applauding enthusiastically at the end of numbers. Club members receive a reduction on entry prices and other benefits. The current membership is over 200.
